1. To me the most disturbing prediction in the Singularity reading was Artificial Intelligence. The idea that computers can do a better job at things and be more accurate than humans is alarming. It makes me wonder what kind of world my children will live in and what opportunities will be available for them. It also makes me wonder will happen to human beings as a whole.
2. The job fair/interview was authentic in the sense that specialists had to "apply" for the jobs that they wanted to do. It was also authentic because specialists had to schedule a certain time to come and talk to you. I think that the problem was that we already all knew each other and so many people had a bias or already had an idea of who they were going to hire before interviews even started. But that can't really be avoided when doing a project at school. Throughout this process I surprised myself because I didn't think that I would be able to fall into the leadership role and that it would become too overwhelming. But, while it is a lot, I felt accomplished when I made a decision about who to hire or discussed I plan I had come up with in order to make my project successful. I kind of liked how it felt to figure out how people could work for me.
3. Yes I do think that advertising has a huge role on our society. After reading the article Kid Kustomers, I felt that there should definitely be restrictions placed on advertising, especially towards children. When it gave examples of children remembering the mascot for cigarettes or loving beer commercials, I thought that was terrible. With so much research done about children and what appeals to them, there is no excuse for creating advertisements for things like that they they will remember.
