Selfie Project
My first thoughts about the selfie project were that it seemed like a really cool idea but also really difficult since I had no prior knowledge of Adobe Illustrator. I had seen students selfies from previous years hanging on Chris' wall and never believed that I'd be able to create anything even remotely similar. After the first few days I was kind of getting the hang of it but not completely, I did a lot of deleting and redrawing. But, after I was done with the project I felt a lot more comfortable and even did another project to keep improving my skills. I think that the thing that helped me the most in learning how to use Adobe Illustrator was just playing around with it and having time to just try different things so I could see what worked and what didn't. Also, Chris allowing us to work on another project also helped me to improve my skills and self teach.
The part that I'm the most proud of on my selfie is that you can tell that it's me, I put a lot of work into making sure there were some key parts of my selfie that could help identify it as me. If I were to do it again I would try to spend more time on gradients and and making more parts of my face more realistic. The parts that I had the most difficulty on were my eyes and getting them to be the right shape, and tiny details like that. I also found that I often had lumps in my lines and so I had to make them more curved and smooth. I really liked this project overall and had fun doing it. I don't really know how it could be improved, though I'm sure it would've been different if Chris hadn't had a baby :) As a whole I feel proud of the effort that I put into this project and the final product that I created.
