MoC (Measures of Community) Project
My overall topic for the Measures of Community project was "How Do My Peers Spend Their Time". Based on this topic, I started to think of questions that I wanted to ask. Because I wanted to get both sides, educational and extracurricular, my questions were 'What's your favorite subject?' 'How much time would you spend on this subject?' 'What's your favorite activity?' 'How much time would you spend on it?'. That way I could compare both sides.
Once we had figured out what questions we wanted to ask we all put them on one survey for the team to answer. Then we had a survey day. Afterwards we all got our information back and had to graph it in three different ways, one for each observation. After looking at my data I had three main observations. The first one was that Math/Physics was the most commonly chosen favorite subject (38%) and that 62% of students chose a sport as their favorite activity. I also found out that 57% of students would rather spend more time on their favorite activity than their favorite subject. Two out of my three observations were expected, that sports is the most commonly chosen favorite activity and that majority of students would spend more time on their favorite activity rather than their favorite subject.
For our final product we had to make an infographic, and find a way to display the information creatively. I decided to split my infographic into two sides. One side that had the extracurricular information and one side that had the academic information. Then, in the middle I had the information about which students would spend more time on. My visuals were sports equipment for the extracurricular side and for the academic side I had math symbols.
