Into The Wild Project
The Into The Wild project started with us reading the book Into The Wild, a true story about a man named Chris McCandless. He did not want to live in our society anymore and went off to start a journey centered around his own happiness. He created a new name for himself, Alexander Supertramp, and set off into the wild, using nothing but the bare minimum of what he needed, but keeping a journal of all his experiences. After reading this book we decided to create our own "Alexander Supertramp" type journey. We were put into groups of 4 and started to record our process in a journal we made. Throughout the project we learned many things about survival, built our own headlamps, soda can stoves and compasses and ultimately ended the project with a 3 day, 2 night camping trip in Anza Borrego.
The thing I am most proud of in this project is my groups compass and my headlamp. It was really cool to make something that you see on TV for yourself and have it actually work. I am also really proud of my pages in my groups Into The Wild journal. I worked really hard on them and I thought that they turned out well and very presentable and a good contribution to the book. If I could change something about my experience during this project it would be that I would do better on the very first survival challenge that we did at the start of the project. My group members and I didn't do enough research on our topic and so we didn't get a great grade on it. I would also change the final product of the Into The Wild journal. There were some pages that weren't so good, or that were missing and I wish I could've done a better job of fixing them before it was turned in.

The first picture is of our chef, Chris, preparing our dinner for the first night. He made stir fry! The next picture is of the oasis and part of the waterfall. It was really pretty over there and refreshing after a long hike. The last picture is of the mountain goats we saw heading back to camp. It's rare to see them, you have to be really quiet so that you don't scare them away
