So we are now in week 2 of our externships and I am very glad that I chose mine. The kindergartners are so cute and sweet. They're used to me now so they're a lot more playful and affectionate, making jokes and trying to hold my hand. I'm also glad I chose this externship because I'm doing something I really enjoy, working with kids, but I am also being really productive everyday and feel like a valuable part of the classroom. My mentor gives me a lot of jobs during the day. Sometimes the tasks are for her, sometimes for the kids and sometimes she'll give me a new task while I'm working on the previous one. But I never feel overwhelmed or like I don't have enough time to finish them all. Usually I can figure out what the priority is, or she tells me, and I complete that one first. And after every task is completed, my mentor always expresses her gratitude and how thankful she is that I'm in her class. It's really nice and it motivates me to keep working hard and putting in a lot of effort because I can see that what I'm doing actually is beneficial. Time feels like it's flying by and I'll be sad when I have to leave in June.
