So I'm about to complete my first week of externship. While I am feeling a little worn out (kindergartners have a lot of energy), I do feel as though I've already accomplished a lot in just a few days. My ability to multitask and complete more than one assignment at a time has greatly improved. I feel great because my mentor trusts me to to take on projects, organize and be a large part in the way her classroom runs. It makes me feel very responsible! I'm also really happy because the kids are starting to warm up to me more. Just this morning one of the little girls called out my name from her car as I was walking up to school. She had the biggest smile on her face. It's the little things :-)
I think that Stephanie and I put my site visit down for next Wednesday and that should still work fine. I just have to make sure it won't be while they're having recess! Sometime next week I think my mentor and I are going to sit down and talk about a specific project for me to do but for right now I'm just trying to be as helpful as I can with whatever she needs and have some fun with the kids too.
